Washed out….
The Muskegon is currently running above normal for this time of year. Water temps are hovering in the upper 60’s and the trout bite has slowed due to the warmer temps. Early in the morning seems to be the best time for trout action on the Muskegon river. The smallmouth fishing was taking off until recent rains filled the watershed with several inches of water. High water flushes lots of food into the river and clouds the water making it better to be the predator than the prey. Fishing generally improves as the water recedes. Look for improved fishing in the later part of next week.
Small hot n tot’s and minnow type body baits are taking bass, as well as soft plastics rigged on light jig heads. Imitate the local forage and you will see action.
