If you are looking for a Saturday morning charter, the only Saturday AM charter I have left is August 2. I do still have a few Sunday am charters available. Weekday openings are also available.
The Tournament is over and info will flow a little more freely in Ludington.
Over the weekend the best “charter” fishing was offshore…A mixed bag of Kings, Coho’s, Steelhead and Lake Trout. The key was to fish the temp breaks…either the edge of the cold and warm, or try to stay in the cold.
Flat lines and short coppers were best with silver streak mini streaks in orang crush, Jerry Lee, mixed veggie and chilli goose. Stinger goldie locks were also hot.
Meat rigs with white flashers and Ok’i Kingfisher flashers in the black mamba with cold steel or red teasers and red bait heads were good deeper for kings. I only run the Familiar Bite herring strips. They are the best on the market.
We do have openings this weekend for those looking to get on the big lake…the weather this week looks great, perfect for fishing!!!
We are rolling into tournament weekend here in Ludington, so info will be a little harder to get.
The fishing over the weekend was good for a mixed bag of fish. There seemed to be fish nearshore and off shore with no real area producing many big fish. But a good mix of Kings from 6-16 lbs and Steelhead and Lake trout of mixed sizes.
The offshore fishing has been in the top 40′ nearshore top to bottom.
In an effort to fill the books a bit more, we are running a couple of JULY specials, please contact us for more information on July fishing charters!!
The fishing in Ludington has improved the last few days, it looks as if we may have made it through our late “June” slow down. With the cooler spring eveything seems to be a couple weeks behind. But it looks as if that is behind us, the stable weather pattern we are in for the next ten days should help as well.
Pretty typical baits are producing.
Spoons in oranges up high for steelhead and young salmon
Darker spoons fished deeper and on long coppers for mature kings
Meat rigs baited with the Familiar bite herring strips. Brighter flashers and teaser rigs have been best when its been sunny. Whites have been good most days as well as greens. Glow teaser heads have been best.
Be ready to adjust your spred based on water temps and light conditions.
