Muskegon River June 30 2026
Muskegon River Fishing Report
Water levels on the Muskegon River are holding at normal seasonal levels, and rising water temperatures are starting to shift the bite. Smallmouth bass fishing continues to improve as the water warms, while trout activity has slowed compared to earlier in the season.
If you’re targeting quality bass, early mornings have been producing the best action. Topwater presentations have been especially effective, with larger fish aggressively hitting baits during the cooler hours. Whopper Ploppers, El Choppo’s, and Rebel Pop-Rs have all been standout producers. If you’re looking to put more fish in the boat, soft plastics continue to deliver consistent numbers throughout the day. Fishing pressure is light most days. Most smallmouth bass are running between 12-18″ with the occasional pike and trout.
As we move further into summer, expect recreational river usage, tubes and kayaks to increase, making the midday hours more challenging. Plan to get on the water early to take advantage of cooler temperatures, lighter traffic, and the most active fish.
Good luck on the water, and we hope to see you on the river soon! If your looking to book a trip please don’t hesitate to reach out, half day trips are popular, but full day trips are an option as well. Fall salmon dates as well as steelhead dates are filling up, now is a good time to lock in your fall dates.
If the river isn’t your thing, remember we offer chartered fishing trips on Lake Michigan for salmon, steelhead and trout as well.
